Michael Cappo

Financial Representative

After 13 years of working in education as a teacher and a coach, I joined the Acacia Financial Group team as the Director of College Planning.  As an educator, I saw the stress of both parents and students trying to navigate through the college admissions process and I wanted to find a profession that would allow me to help guide them through this tedious process every step of the way.

While I enjoyed being an educator and coach at Brother Martin High School, I wanted something different that would allow me to take my passion for coaching and turn it into a career where I could coach families on effective strategies to plan for college.

As a parent myself, I understand the rising costs of education and the strain it can put on a family.  I am very passionate about helping families learn about different strategies to save for college and very concerned about the future impact on the economy due to the current national student loan debt level.

Through strategies and coaching, along with the help of my team at Acacia Financial Group, I can not only help families prepare properly for college, but for life after college for the student and the parents. It is important to teach parents how to pay for college for their kids without sacrificing their own retirement strategies.

My wife, Hellen, and I live in New Orleans with our two children, Mac and Kate.  We enjoy being involved at St. Dominic School in Lakeview, cheering “Who Dat” in the Dome on game days and patiently coaching the 4 year old T-Ball team at Lakeview playground.
